Aortyx has closed a seed round this year for the main product that they have in development focused in aortic disease. Jordi Martorell, CEO & Founder along with Patrick Obrien, Lifesciences consultant, and William Hariri, Director at Alira Health, shared with our students the process and the strategy for succeeding in early stage investments

 

During the evening of the BBI Open Day a study case in early stage funding was presented by Jordi Martorell, Patrick O’Brien and William Hariri. The main objective of the evening was to understand how to develop and international strategy for medical devices having Aortyx as an example, and also speak about the experiences of the panelists in order to understand key factors to succeed in fundraising.  

The conversation started with an overview of Aortyx’s main product and how they stablished and developed the licensing agreement to become a start-up.  “One of the main aspects that push us to move forward with Aortyx was the data & and the evidence we had, and the oportunity that was opening for those patient suffering from cardiopathies”, spoke Jordi Martorell.

During this conversation in what is valuable to create a Biotech company, a very precisely point was raised by William Hariri regarding to the importance of a deep analysis and understanding the real unmet need that you are going to address, and decide businesswise if it as well as viable source of business. (continue reading...)
